Problem description:
LDAP Test Connection fails even if LDAP configurations are correct.
Moreover, while the connection test fails, I am able to login with an LDAP user.
What is the impact on the customer:
Customers can't use the Test Connection button to validate that the LDAP settings are correct.
In addition, this behavior is misleading and leads customers to think there is something wrong with their LDAP configuration.
What is the expected behavior?
the Test Connection should return successfully
Steps to reproduce:
Install Artifactory with LDAP
Navigate to LDAP settings and click on the Test Connection button --> test will fail with an error in the log "Error connecting to the LDAP server"
Verify LDAP is working as expected by login to the UI with an LDAP user
Navigate to LDAP settings page, enter again the Manager DN Password and then click on Test Connection --> test succeeds.
Save LDAP settings again and click on Test Connection --> test fails
Environment details:
Artifactory version on which the bug was reproduced: 7.38.10
Relevant for newer versions including the latest versions.
Workaround:
Navigate to LDAP settings page, enter again the Manager DN Password and then click on Test Connection.
